Immune Responses
Immune responses to food allergies and food intolerancesare very different.
Allergies are generally an immediate reaction, with the immune system usually ‘over reacting’ to a protein in a specific food. ‘TRUE’ ALLERGIES can be life threatening SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED UNDER MEDICAL SUPERVISION. The Allergy Management Program can assist people with allergic conditions by providing knowledge to empower and manage risks.
Food intolerances are more subtle & difficult to detect than food allergies as:
- auto immune response can change with time eg asthma to eczema;
- the body’s reactions to foods are often delayed;
- when the immune system is functioning well there may be no reaction ;
- symptoms often worsening with increased stress
The Allergy Management Program can provide food investigation and management for food intolerant sufferers for a broad range of ailments and chronic conditions.
